CARE International UK is looking to recruit a dynamic Head of Humanitarian (Technical Team) who is responsible for driving CARE International UK’s (CIUK) provision of practical and thought leadership in the context of these evolving challenges and opportunities that are faced by organisations such as CARE who are on the front line of humanitarian action. Central to CARE International’s humanitarian priorities is a cross cutting commitment to Gender in Emergencies.
This role combines a mixture of positioning of the organisation with external actors in the UK and beyond alongside practical provision of technical assistance to programming and operations from a team specialist advisors. Advisors sit in three sub-teams, the largest being the CIUK hosted CARE International Shelter team with additional capacities in Gender and Protection and Climate Change Adaptation & Resilience.
About you
We are looking for a dynamic professional who has experience and a proven track record of working in operations and on humanitarian policy issues. You should have an excellent grasp of the changing dynamics in humanitarian response globally. We require an excellent communicator who can profile the work of the organisation based and drawing out lessons from their experience on the ground with a range of external stakeholders in the UK and beyond.

You would also be part of a global humanitarian capacity that is co-ordinated by the CARE Emergencies Group (CEG) that ensures an interdependent approach across all CARE International members in mounting our humanitarian response.
